Tell me your story
The one you want me -
To hear you tell me
The one you live
That you been holding
Just like a vision
That you been given
And never seen

Tell me your story
Say in your own words
About your sorrow
I never heard
Beyond the first time
You ever spoke
To fill the silence
The one you broke

Chorus
Don't mind if I look off into the distance
The words you speak are bitter like the wind
And if your hear the empty sound of listening
It's just the breath that I cannot take in
With each time you begin
So can you start again?

No easy answer
To all your questions
It might come to me
Some other time
Maybe it's better
To turn aside
Than face the memories
Behind your eyes

No way to visit
What's left in ruin
The story's heroes
Are bad enough
Like in your mirror
You see the shadows
Behind the candle
That you are hiding

Tell me your story
This time more slowly
The secret pages
Open, unfold
And find new meaning
From sadness growing
And let the suffering
All go away

Chorus

It's never over
The story spoken
Something forgotten
Brings back the broken
The parts remembered
Turn into light
Turn into gold
When we grow old

Tell me your story
The one you want me -
To put away for you
And leave behind
I pray to Jesus
Your little child
Will sleep tonight

Oh, oh, oh -
I pray to Jesus
Your little child
Will sleep tonight

Description
Long Song Description:
Reflecting on the image of a therapist I hired to work with dying patients and her determination and dedication to help them resolve issues before they died. Her courage was remarkable and I dedicated this song to Dr Sheila Redmond - the woman who inspired me to write this song. I pray that her life is full and wonderful - for she surely deserves it now.
Story Behind the Song:
the story of a dedicated therapist who worked with my dying patients - her courage and their stories. powerful and unforgettable.
